Buying a diamond can be exciting but also a little confusing. You just walk into a store and browse online and suddenly you're hearing all types of terms like clarity, color , carat and a lot more. That's where the four C’s of diamonds actually come in the picture. They are a universal standard for judging Lab grown diamonds.
What are the 4C?
Cut
When most people think of a beautiful diamond they are actually reacting to how well it sparkles. That sparkle doesn't just come from how big it is, it actually comes from the cut. The cut refers to how well diamond facets are shaped and arranged to reflect light. You need to know that a well cut diamond will shine brightly and catch light from every angle. Poorly cut diamonds no matter how big or small might look dull or flat. There are different grades of cut like excellent provides maximum sparkle very good provides slightly less sparkle good provides decent shine while fair or poor cut provides minimum brilliance. Cut is often called the most important because it impacts the overall beauty of the diamond.
Color
When you talk about the color and diamonds you are just talking about how colorless it is. The less color a diamond has the higher its grid. The gemological institute of America rates diamond color from D to Z. The shades from D to F are colorless. At the same time G TO J and nearly colourless but great value. From shades K TO M you can expect faint yellow often visible to the eye. Most people cannot tell the difference between the colour D&G unless they are side by side.
Clarity
Clarity refers to how clear or clean the diamond is. Almost all diamonds have tiny natural marks inside them called inclusions or small blemishes on the outside called blemishes. Clarity is basically graded based on how many of these flaws are there, how big the floors are and whether you can see them without a microscope. A lot of people choose VS or SI clarity diamonds because they offer a balance between clarity and price.
Carat
Carat Basically refers to the weight of the diamond not the size. Though heavier diamonds often look bigger. One carat Basically is equal to the size of 0.2g. It is often the first thing that people notice. A1 carat diamond is considered classic but many people opt for 0.5 or 1.25 carat depending on the budget. It's important to note that two diamonds with the same carat weight can look very different in size depending on how they are cut.
So above all you need to know that whether you are buying a diamond for an engagement or special occasion or just because you know the 4C that defines a diamond's value and beautiful stuff but beyond the basics choosing a diamond is a complete personal experience at Rarecut.
